Summer fun in the mountain house

Summer fun in the mountain house
- Playing, experiencing, learning, understanding -

A children's summer with us in the high mountains is more than just hiking, swimming in the outdoor pool or lazing around in the sun. Our new children's program "Summer fun in the mountain house" offers your kids a unique, exciting, but also educational adventure program on the mountain pasture, in nature and at the chalet, where boredom is a foreign word.

The educational and warm care of your children is guaranteed, food and drink are provided. Ideal if you want to go on a high alpine climbing tour or a cultural excursion during this time, or if you as parents simply want to have a day "for yourselves".

Alpine cows

1. A day on the mountain pasture

  • We drive and hike to a real high alpine pasture in the Goldberg massif at 2,050 m above sea level and experience an exciting day there with animals, flowers, nature and real hut life.
  • First we go uphill in the off-road vehicle to the Astener Almen area, and then we hike along easy alpine paths for about an hour to a rustic, old alpine hut, which will be our base for today's adventure day.
  • The Alpine herdsman's family welcomes us there, and after a little refreshment we can brush, caress and feed the cute calves, and the herdsman tells us about life in summer on the alpine pasture. We can watch the milking and learn how milk is turned into cheese and yoghurt.
  • At lunch we fortify ourselves with a delicious snack and an alpine drink. Afterwards we can relax or play in the garden of the alpine hut.
  • Now we explore the meadows and hills around the alpine pasture, learn about and how to protect the mountain flowers, and pick a small bouquet of flowers as a gift for our parents.
  • To round off the eventful day, there is cake from the hut bakery in the afternoon before the off-road vehicle takes us back to the Almchalet Goldbergleiten.
    • Parents are allowed to come along (possibility of your own tour from the Hochalm, e.g. to the Mohar 2,605 m).
    • The dog is allowed.
    • Duration approx. 6 hours + arrival/departure

Children in the national park

2. Adventure with the national park rangers

  • An exciting adventure day with real rangers in the Hohe Tauern National Park, as you normally only know from films.
  • We explore nature in the high mountains, observe wild animals, learn a lot about the weather, water and forest, and how to move and find your way in the "wilderness".
  • To fortify ourselves, we look for a camp site on the mountain and eat our hearty ranger provisions from our backpack.
  • At the end of this eventful day, we know what a national park is and why we have to protect and preserve our wonderful mountain nature.
  • As a reward, at the end there is a certificate for passing the training to become a "Junior Ranger Assistant" and a real ranger cap for each child.
    • Exact program depends on weather conditions and age of children
    • Participation of parents or dogs after consultation with the rangers
    • Children from other families may also take part
    • Duration approx. 6 hours + arrival/departure

Refreshing summer punch

3. We cook and bake for the children's festival

  • Unfortunately, what kids really enjoy is often unhealthy. At least according to the adults. Today we'll try and learn how to cook and bake all these delicacies ourselves, with good, natural ingredients.
  • We only use natural foods and cheese and meat from the region. The industry is welcome to eat themselfs their common additives such as monosodium glutamate, disodium guanylate, maltodextrin, emulsifiers, preservatives and colorings.
  • We make our own potato chips and crackers according to our own recipe and experiment with how to create interesting new flavors using spices and herbs.
  • Of course, you need sauces and dips for chips and snacks. We learn how to conjure up delicious sauces in spicy, fruity and hot flavors from a few clear basic ingredients and clever additions.
  • We learn how to make the patties for real hamburgers and what other side dishes you need for a really delicious hamburger.
  • To quench your thirst, we make a refreshing, tangy children's punch with fresh seasonal fruit.
  • The crowning glory is an original US hamburger barbecue on the Almhaus terrace, where we will enjoy our culinary masterpieces. And if the parents have been good, they can come along too.
    • Also suitable for rainy days (barbecue area covered)
    • Parents can then join in the barbecue. For educational reasons, parents are not recommended to take part in the cooking course itself.
    • Duration approx. 4 hours (= 1 afternoon) + open-end barbecue...

Alpine peasant painting

4. Painting in the mountain house

  • Peasant painting and arts and crafts used to be an important source of additional income for farmers on mountain farms in the winter. "Mountain hut landlady" Alla, who is intensively involved in painting herself, shows us the basics of peasant painting and how we can paint small pictures as gifts.
  • We learn how to use brushes correctly, how to mix colors ourselves and practical tricks and tips on how to create a small work of art even as a beginner.
  • The highlight is to paint a wooden heart or board with peasant motifs according to our own ideas and under expert guidance. We can then hang this up in our room at home or give it to someone we love.
  • To give us strength, there is a healthy afternoon snack with juice, cocoa and mineral water from our own spring.
    • Also suitable for rainy days
    • For educational reasons, the participation of parents etc. is not recommended. You don't sit next to your child in school either...
    • Duration approx. 4 hours (= 1 afternoon)
